Quiet Time with God (Starting Point for ALL Men)

When Jesus was asked, “What’s the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus answered (in Matthew 22:36-38), “to love God with all your heart, soul and mind. This is great and foremost commandment.”  Most Christians already know this, but very few Christians know HOW to love God with all their heart, soul, and mind.  However, the answer isn’t as complicated as you think.  In order to love God (or anyone else), you have to spend (invest) TIME in the relationship.  And one of the best ways to spend time with God is to read His word.  Below is a link to an awesome resource, The Real Men Connect S-P-A-C-E  Journal Sheet (along with instructions). Both resources show you WHAT to do to get started and HOW to get the most out of your quiet time with God.

Celebrate Recovery Group Locator:  The purpose of Celebrate Recovery™ is to fellowship and celebrate God’s healing power through the “Eight Recovery Principles.” This experience allows its participants to “be changed.” By working and applying these Biblical principles, you begin to grow spiritually. Just go to your app store and download it.

Scripture Typer: This is the best app on the plant for memorizing God’s word.  You can categorize your verses, share them, set reminders to review, and even a join a community of Believers to compare to others who are memorizing scripture with you to keep each other encouraged.  It’s impossible for you to have this app and NOT increase your memorization of the words.  I, along with men I’ve discipled, have tried a few, but this is the best one out there.  Just go to your app store and download it.

Bible (Answers)

Bible (Reading)

Reading the Bible can be somewhat intimidating (especially if you’re a new believer).  But you can’t lead your family without becoming familiar with God’s Word.  Here are some basic instructions (download the PDF link below) on HOW to get started reading God’s Word, but more importantly, how to start ENJOYING God’s Word, without being a Bible scholar or seminary-trained theologian.

Bible (References)

Topical Bible:  If you ever wondered “What does the Bible say about ___________?”  and you had a difficult time finding the scripture for it, then this search engine is for you.  It searches the Internet for the topics that interest people, many of which you would never find in a traditional topical Bible.  Then it shows relevant verses to that topic.  People vote for or suggest verses that they think are especially relevant for a topic.  So as YOU use it, you actually help improve it.  Searching for a word will automatically add it to the list of topics.  Note of Caution: Always check the context of a verse; that’s why they provide links.  The context of a verse might put a very different slant on what the verse seems to say and mean.

Books (for Real Men)

I’m constantly asked about the books I read (other than the Bible) for spiritual growth; and honestly, it’s too many to name.  So I decided to narrow it down by compiling a list of my favorite books (just for Christian MEN).  Just CLICK HERE!  This list will be updated frequently, as I read more books, so please bookmark the page or visit it frequently.  If you have any suggestions or recommendations, please email us with them.  So read on, lead on, and stay in His grip!

Brotherhood (Community of Men)

SOULCON: The ONE thing that EVERY man wants, but is afraid to admit that he needs is an authentic relationship with other brothers.  Men who will go to battle with him, he can depend on, and trust, who will love him unconditionally.  Cody Bobay, the founder and creator of SOULCON Ministries has a created such a community where men are challenged (through a six-week program called The SOULCON Challenge) to become special force soldiers for Christ, building a bond with other brothers that can never be broken. I’m a graduate of the SOULCON Community, as well as a ministry leadership partner, and we’ve, locally, taken more than 100+ men and young men through the SOULCON Challenge.  Check it out for yourself by CLICKING HERE!

Check-Up (for Christian Men)

Let’s face it, most men struggle when it comes to meaningful communication with their wives, children, and even other men.  But like most things in life, effective communication is skill, it’s not something you’re just born with.  And like with most things, it takes practice in order to master it.  To help you in this process, I compiled a list of what I call “Conversation Ice Breakers for Men” (47 Questions) that will get you past the fear of talking (or at least get you started).  Just click on the link below, print it out, and keep it near by whenever you start to get tongue tied. I even put it in alphabetical order to help you easily remember some of the questions.  Note: It was primarily meant for conversations with adults, but if you use discernment, it can work with young children and teens as well.

Continuing Education (Life Skills for Men)

It was once said, as long as you’re still living, you should never stop learning. And when it comes to being men, husbands, fathers, and spiritual leaders, we can’t afford to stop learning.  We should always be in a state of CANI (constant and never ending improvement).  So Real Men Connect created an online social community (on Facebook) called Real Men University, where real men can go to get fellowship, mentorship, and discipleship 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year.  It’s a virtual campus where you can teach, learn, and grow with some of the most respected men of faith in the country.  The tuition is free, but the education is priceless: Just go to

Discipling/Mentoring Strategies

Most men’s ministry attempt to add men, but they don’t multiply their men (i.e., make disciples). Jesus commands us in Matt 28:19-20 to go out and “make” disciples. But most churches (and men’s groups) don’t know where to start.  That’s why we created a process we called the “Me & 3 Blueprint” to use BEFORE you start the mentoring and discipleship process; a list of “Accountability Questions” to use AFTER you’ve built a successful relationship; and a step-by-step guide for men’s group leaders when you’re READY to multiply your group called the “Disciplemaking Blueprint.” You can CLICK and download all of them.

Please email us @ if you have any questions or would like for us to train you on how to implement and use any of these resources.

Disciplemaking Curriculum

There are several great resources available to successfully disciple men (and I’ve used many with my men).  But hands down, the easiest and most effective tool we’ve used ourselves, and have trained others to use, is Lonnie Berger’s (from The Navigators) Every Man a Warrior curriculum.  Below is a link to their website where you can read more about it, as well as purchase their curriculum (very affordable).  Real Men Connect gives EMAW our highest endorsement.  Please email us @ if you have any questions or would like for us to train you (at not charge) on how to implement and use their resources at your church. ==> Every Man a Warrior.
